June 2022 Newsletter

The June 2022 newsletter highlights the 2022 SBDC Excellence & Innovation Award the Pace SBDC received from the US Small Business Administration (SBA) as part of National Small Business Week. It also provides a recap of the recent crowdfunding for small business webinar  we hosted that featured representatives from the Indiegogo, Kickstarter and Wefunder platforms, and a student entrepreneurship Shark Tank event we co-hosted  with Pace's Entrepreneurship Club. Finally the newsletter shines a spotlight on Pace SBDC client success stories  Norwegian Baked , who received SBDC assistance with marketing and COVID-19 recovery programming, and Harlem Baking Co and the support they received from students in the Advanced Marketing Management class from Pace's Lubin School of Business.  

March 2022 Newsletter

The March 2022 newsletter recaps the Pace SBDC’s lender panel webinar titled Access to Capital - Small Business Lending Panel, moderated in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration New York District Office, and featuring representatives from Flushing Bank, Key Bank, Accompany Capital, and the Brooklyn Cooperative Federal Credit Union. It concluded with breakout room sessions cohosted with our advisors. We also celebrate SBDC Day to honor the efforts of SBDCs across the U.S. and highlight our clients; tout a recent success story featuring owner Erin Norris's Grindhaus, a restaurant in Red Hook, Brooklyn, which reopened in January; provide information on procurement and certification assistance; and introduce the newest member of our team, student intern Seyi Fakoya, who is pursuing an MBA in Business Analytics at the Lubin School of Business.

January 2022 Newsletter

The January 2022 newsletter highlights pandemic relief programs like the NYS Small Business Recovery Grant Program as well as our newly redesigned grants page. It also features webinars on online sale strategies. Our latest client success story includes the Andrea Lord Studio, which was able to secure a loan to help fund its venture with the guidance of business advisor Gregory Callender. In addition, we provided clients with links to training and webinars and welcomed former intern Joe Peterson into his new role of Associate Business Advisor for our Center.

November 2021 Newsletter

The November 2021 newsletter highlights the December 31st deadline to apply for the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL). It also reviews the many topics covered in our fall webinar series, among them sustainability and sales strategies, and our latest client success story, Kung Fu Tea, which opened in June with financial and start-up guidance from our colleague, Business Advisor Rawle Brown. We also issued a reminder about the upcoming Small Business Saturday and introduced the newest member of our team, intern Jennifer Zaurov, a dual MBA student at the Lubin School of Business.

October 2021 Newsletter

The October 2021 newsletter highlights Pace SBDC’s celebration of National Small Business Week with our partners, the New York Small Business Development Center network and the U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) New York District Office which joined us in hosting a live webinar to discuss small business  financing options for owner-occupied real estate purchases.  The panel included lenders from Dime Community Bank, TruFund Financial  Services, and Pursuit. The newsletter also reminds readers of the  regular updates we make to our COVID-19 Small Business Resources webpage and shares the many topics being covered in our fall webinar series led by various industry experts in accounting, financing.  sustainability, and more. A success story blog post about our client Blind Barber, assisted by Business Advisor Sandra Cely to obtain a Global NY State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grant, is also  published. Lastly, we proudly announce our office’s move to a modern,  new home in recently renovated One Pace Plaza.

August 2021 Newsletter

The August 2021 newsletter recaps the New York State Pandemic Recovery Grant program and our webinar in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) NY District Office covering government contracting, procurement resources, and relevant SBA certifications. It also highlights our ‘Developing Your Brand Story and Assets’ workshop led by Lubin School of Business Professor Peggy Kim; new grants and loans posted to our dedicated Covid-19 Small Business Resource Page; and the issuance of the 2020 New York SBDC Annual Report which features our client La Palapa.

May 2021 Newsletter

The May 2021 newsletter highlights the latest updates on the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG), and the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF). It spotlights our past student interns recent career experiences and shares the COVID-19 success story of our cafe client, Bushwick Grind. It also heralds our new Hiring Resources webpage which provides detailed instructions on how to list a job on Pace University’s Career Services site and shares a link to a post-pandemic business survey being managed by the Lubin School of Business student-run research center in partnership with the business councils of New York State and Westchester. It wraps up with news of our recent Sales Strategies for Small Businesses webinar led by Lubin School of Business Professor Harvey Markovitz.

The April 2021 newsletter highlights the latest updates on calculating Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans, the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG), and the Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) payment deferment period and loan maximum. It also recounts National SBDC Day, in which the Pace SBDC united with the nearly 1,000 Small Business Development Centers nationwide to celebrate our clients' stories. It also showcases Pace SBDC client success story Brooklyn Braised;  our hosting of a 7(a), 504, and Microloan Debt Relief Program webinar; and the latest addition to our Pace SBDC team, student intern Luanne Dinh.
