Pace SBDC Joins Forces to Empower MWBEs at the 14th Annual NYS Forum

The Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) was proud to participate in the 14th Annual NYS MWBE Forum held on November 12, 2024 in Albany. Representing our team at the event was business advisor Pedro Soto, who joined forces with SBDCs from Albany, Binghamton, and Lehman College (the Bronx) to connect with MWBEs and share resources to support their success.

Hosted by New York State’s Empire State Development, this year’s forum created a vibrant space for networking, learning, and collaboration. Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) had the chance to meet with state procurement officers to explore contract opportunities and attend capacity-building workshops that delved into crucial topics such as engaging small businesses in mega projects, discretionary opportunities and medium-level projects, navigating capital projects in New York State, obtaining access to capital, and avoiding common pitfalls in NYS MWBE certification. These sessions equipped attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to tackle complex challenges and seize emerging opportunities across various sectors.

At Pace SBDC, we’re committed to supporting New York’s small business community. Our certified business advisors provide no-cost, one-on-one guidance on topics such as access to capital, government procurement, marketing strategies, and business planning. Sessions are offered both in English and Spanish and are available at the Brooklyn Public Library’s and New York Public Library’s business branches, in Flatbush at Assemblymember Bichotte Hermelyn’s office, in Industry City (Sunset Park) at the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce's Office, in Bushwick, and from the Pace SBDC’s downtown Manhattan office, as well as virtually.

If you’re interested in learning how we can help your business grow, visit our website or email us to schedule a session.
