Celebrating Small Businesses: Walking Tours of Chinatown and Grand Street (Williamsburg, Brooklyn)
The Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) was thrilled to partner with the US Small Business Administration (SBA) NY District Office, the Chinatown Business Improvement District, and the Baruch College SBDC to host a walking tour of small businesses in Manhattan’s vibrant Chinatown. The tour highlighted the importance of supporting local entrepreneurs and showcased the essential services available through free SBDC programming.
Our journey through Chinatown offered a unique opportunity to engage directly with small business owners, hear their inspiring stories, and explore the rich cultural tapestry of the neighborhood. In honor of Small Business Saturday, we aimed to shine a spotlight on the resilience and creativity of these entrepreneurs while connecting them to valuable resources.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to NYS Senator Brian Kavanagh, City Councilmember Christopher Marte, and representatives from US Congressman Dan Goldman and NYS Assemblymember Grace Lee for joining us in celebrating Chinatown’s small businesses. We also thank the Renaissance Economic Development Corporation for their commitment to helping small businesses access essential financing and development tools.
For our second walking tour along Grand Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we partnered with the Grand Street Business Improvement District (BID) and SBA in this bustling and dynamic community and share information about Pace SBDC programming, and were joined by reps from the offices of State Senator Julia Salazar and Borough President Antonio Reynoso, and from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. Representatives from the Grand Street BID shared insights into the unique needs of Grand Street’s business owners and highlighted opportunities to strengthen the local economy through collaboration and innovation.
As we look forward to Small Business Saturday and the holiday season, we encourage everyone to shop local and support the small businesses that are the heart of our communities. Together, we can make a big impact on the small business landscape in New York City and beyond.
