The October 2024 Newsletter highlights the Pace SBDC's recent recognition of Nose Best Candles as the NYSBDC 2024 Millennial Small Business of the Year. We also feature the expansion of our advisory services to Flatbush and Sunset Park, Brooklyn, bringing business guidance to entrepreneurs in these communities. Additionally, Pace SBDC advisors Joe Peterson and Pedro Soto attended an AI training at America's SBDC Annual Conference, exploring how AI can streamline small business operations. The newsletter showcases client success stories, including Fit N Play Mama, where Business Advisor Joe Peterson helped secure a Neighborhood Business Grant, and IDEO Skincare, where Advisor Rawle Brown assisted in obtaining a $150,000 SBA loan for expansion. We also recap recent events where the Pace SBDC team connected with business owners at MTA, Qualitas of Life Foundation, and SBA events, offering support on financing and MWBE certification. Lastly, we welcome our new student intern, Caroline Gomes, a graduate student at Pace University’s Lubin School of business.

The August 2024 Newsletter highlights the successful Pace SBDC's Small Business Financing Panel and Networking Event which was attended by over 150 small business owners. We also feature Pace SBDC's participation in the NYS Regional MWBE Opportunities Expo Series, where our team connected with small business owners to discuss procurement opportunities and the importance of MWBE certification. We also shine a light on the online CPA Small Business Accounting Clinic hosted in partnership with the New York State Society of CPAs. The newsletter also showcases client success stories, including CJB Safety Corp, where our business advisor Rawle Brown assisted in reissuing their EIN; and Liz's Book Bar where advisor Greg Callender helped secure an SBA loan. We also congratulate our business advisors Sandra Cely and Pedro Soto on earning their certifications, and introduce our newest student intern, Nishtha Sood, a graduate student at Pace University’s Lubin School of business.

The June 2024 Newsletter highlights Pace SBDC attending the annual NYSBDC Staff Training Conference in Lake Placid, NY. We also shine a spotlight on Regional Director Andrew Flamm as he joined a panel headed by Congressman Dan Goldman in honor of National Small Business Development Week. Additionally, Pace SBDC hosted a NYC-based SBDC meeting to discuss best practices and strategies with our New York SBDC colleagues. We are also excited to share details on LGBTQ+ Owned Business Certifications in honor of pride month. We also highlight Pace SBDC client success story Here Studio, who worked with business advisor Pedro Soto on market research, business planning, and financial projections. The newsletter also features details on our upcoming Small Business Financing Panel, as well as details on how to take the Pace Small Business Poll. Finally, we welcome our newest student intern – Alexa Lotano, an undergraduate student at Pace University’s Lubin School of business, to the Pace SBDC team.

The March 2024 Newsletter highlights Pace SBDC's 2023 Year in Review showcasing the past years achievements and relationships built. We also shine a spotlight on Regional Director Andrew Flamm's time with NY Small Business Development Center (SBDC) network colleagues for SBDC Day at New York’s Capitol in Albany. This month we also partnered with Turner Construction on an in-person event at Pace’s Lower Manhattan campus that focused on procurement opportunities with the U.S. General Services Administration Silvio Mollo Federal Building project. More events that occurred during March include Website Workday events, and National SBDC Day! Lastly, our team member Joe Peterson has been promoted to Business Advisor, congratulations! January 2024 Newsletter
The January 2024 Newsletter highlights Pace SBDC's Expansion to support Brooklyn-based Small Businesses and the launch event held to celebrate with Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez. We also kicked off our in-person one-to-one business advisory sessions at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Business & Career Center. This month we also feature The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Assistance for those impacted by the severe storms and flooding in September around New York counties. We also shine a light on the online CPA Accounting Clinic Pace SBDC hosted in partnership with the New York State Society of CPAs, and Pace SBDC client success story Intelligent Pest Control where our business advisor Rawle Brown guided them with business formation, facilitating WBE certification, and developing a Capability Statement to support procurement opportunities. Finally, we are excited to welcome our newest members, Roxanna Astorga - Pace SBDC's Counseling Coordinator and Pedro Soto - Business Advisor, to the Pace SBDC team.
November 2023 Newsletter
The November 2023 newsletter highlights Pace SBDC’s Small Business Financing Panel and Networking Event which was attended by more than 100 small business owners. This month we also have new features on our intern alumni page, where our past interns talk about their experience of working with us and give their thoughts on their current roles. We are also proud to present our newly developed Spanish version of the website, for our Spanish-speaking clients. The newsletter also highlights Pace SBDC client success stories Moxie Mandarin and Ilibrium where our advisors Sandra Cely and Susan Gluck helped them respectively. Lastly, we would also like to congratulate Joe Peterson who recently achieved the Crowdfunding certification with the CrowdfundBetter program.

The September 2023 newsletter highlights Regional Director Andrew Flamm’s visit to the America’s SBDC conference in Nashville, where he led a training session and connected with other SBDC colleagues. We also hosted a “Website Workday” for entrepreneurs and small business owners in partnership with the New York Public Library’s Thomas Yoseloff Business Center. The newsletter also highlights Pace SBDC client success story Leidylicious where our business advisor Sandra Cely helped them with location selection, financial projections, advertising, and online presence. We also wanted to throw light on a new loan program: The New York Forward Loan Fund which is a state-funded program that provides loans of up to $150,000 to eligible businesses at an interest rate ranging between 9.5% and 12.5% depending on the length of the loan.

The August 2023 newsletter highlights the Accounting Clinic we hosted and featured one-to-one client sessions with volunteer CPAs from the NYS Society of CPAs. The Pace SBDC also hosted NYSBDC State Director Sonya Smith as she visited our center and met Lawrence Singleton, Dean of Pace’s Lubin School of Business as well as three Pace SBDC clients. The newsletter also highlights Pace SBDC client success stories Nose Best Candles, where our business advisors Rawle Brown and Joe Peterson helped them with business planning and capital financing; and Fort Street Studio where advisor Greg Callender assisted with the client’s acquisition of the business and growth capital. We are also excited to share our center's new brochure! Finally, we welcome our newest student intern - Khyla Jhoy Aguirre, an undergraduate student at Pace’s Lubin School of Business, to the Pace SBDC team.

The June 2023 newsletter highlights Pace SBDC's Small Business Lending Panel and Networking Event which was attended by nearly 200 business owners and banking professionals and co-hosted with the SBA’s NY District Office. Our advisors also attended the NYSBDC staff training conference in Syracuse for professional development. We are also excited to debut our newest digital content, a video of our team! The newsletter also features a client success story, where our advisor Susan Gluck worked with Lubin School of Business Professor Mary Long and her students to help Pace SBDC client Bricklane Curry in marketing research. Lastly, we celebrated as Susan Gluck and Joe Peterson becoming NYSVDC-certified business advisors.

The March 2023 newsletter highlights the Pace SBDC's 2022 Year in Review document which shares several of our exciting endeavors and community-focused successes. We also showcased recent training events, especially those that we made hybrid, including a sales strategy workshop and another on non-disclosure agreements. Our latest website support initiatives were spotlighted to show how we’re helping small businesses get online; we also highlighted our newly updated eCommerce page where entrepreneurs can now learn about Alibaba and FAIRE. Plus, we welcomed the newest member of our team, Pace student intern Eeshani Juthani, who is pursuing a masters in Social Media and Mobile Marketing.

The January 2023 newsletter highlights the Bidlinx procurement platform and access to contract opportunities with government offices and the Port Authority of NY and NJ. Plus, a visit from leadership from the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of International Trade, and the agency’s New York District office, and NYSBDC State Director Sonya Smith to discuss SBA international trade and export financing programs. Also showcased: Ramona Cedeno’s In Great Company podcast’s Giving Tuesday interview of Pace SBDC Regional Director, Andrew Flamm; our client, Next Big Thing, becoming a finalist in the NYPL’s 2022 StartUP! Business Plan Competition; and Marketing Professor Mary Long’s Lubin School of Business, Consumer Behavior students’ research project on behalf of Pace SBDC client, Theater for the New City.

The November 2022 newsletter highlights the new NYS Small Business Seed Grant program which provides grants of up to $25,000 to operating New York State based early-stage small and micro businesses. The Pace SBDC works with existing small businesses as well as aspiring entrepreneurs to help build or relaunch their website. Pace business advisors have once again begun to hold in-person 1:1 client sessions at the New York Public Library's Thomas Yoseloff Business Center. Finally, we highlight a partnership with the NYS Society of CPAs on a series of live, no-cost tax, accounting and finance webinar trainings, as well as client success story Wine:30 and the support they received to put together a loan package and business plan to launch their business
