Up Transport

Up Transport founder Adrian Tone is used to solving unique problems. Since 2012 his Industry City, Brooklyn-based company has been building customized shipping solutions that protect some of the world's most valuable pieces of art. However, when he identified a new piece of equipment that he believed could help him attract new business as well as significantly lower his operating costs, he had trouble convincing a lender to finance the acquisition.

He was referred to the Pace SBDC, where he was paired with Business Advisor Greg Callender. Greg worked with Adrian on several revisions of his business plan so that both his narrative and his financial projections would better communicate how the new equipment purchase could translate into higher sales and improved profit margins. After more than a year of working in partnership with the SBDC , Up Transport was approved for a $180,000 loan from Pursuit, helping the business create 3 jobs.

"Working with Greg and his colleagues at Pace SBDC has been an empowering experience in financial literacy and business planning. With their guidance, along with support from Pursuit Lending, and my landlord, Industry City in Brooklyn, we were not only able to secure the right funding, but I also gained hands-on knowledge that helped me better understand and manage my business." - Adrian
