Small Business Saturday

The Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is pleased to support the tenth annual Small Business Saturday on Saturday, November 30th. Held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, this initiative helps small businesses create jobs and meet annual sales goals by driving shoppers to support their local stores and restaurants during the busy holiday season.

The Pace University SBDC works with entrepreneurs in a range of industries including Downtown businesses with brick and mortar locations such as Da Claudio. These small businesses are not only central to the fabric of New York City’s neighborhoods, but are also a significant driver of the New York State economy.

According to a 2019 report from Office of the New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, New York State small businesses provided more than 4.1 million jobs in the state in 2016, just over half of all private sector jobs in New York. In fact, almost two-thirds of York State’s 465,000 businesses have four or fewer employees, yet account for nearly 488,000 jobs with total payroll of $23.3 billion based on the most recent data available from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The Pace University SBDC works with hundreds of small businesses each year, helping them access financing, develop and implement marketing strategies, access contract opportunities and improve their operations. This assistance includes 1:1 guidance and advisory services from NYS-certified Business Advisors, offered at no cost to our clients via financial support for our statewide network of centers from the NYS and Federal governments as well as our host institutions.
