NYSBDC Visit to Washington
Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Director Andrew Flamm joined colleagues from the New York SBDC network for a recent trip to Washington, DC, where they met with NYS Congressional representatives and/or their staff members to highlight the range of free one-on-one business advisement, training and research offered by SBDCs to help entrepreneurs launch or grow their small business. The trip’s highlights included meetings with Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, Ranking Member of the House Small Business Committee, and Congresswoman Grace Meng, Member of the House Appropriations Committee.
The group also attended the fourth annual America’s SBDC (ASBDC) Client Showcase and Reception which was hosted by ASBDC President & CEO Charles “Tee” Rowe. The ASBDC has highlighted that job growth for SBDC clients is nearly 10 times greater than job growth for average businesses, and SBDC client sales growth is nearly 4 times greater than sales growth for businesses in general. Further, nationwide SBDC clients started a new business every 30 minutes, created a new job every 5.5 minutes and generated $100,000 in new sales every 10 minutes.
