Government Procurement Strategies

The Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is partnering with the US Small Business Administration (SBA) to help entrepreneurs identify and respond to government contract opportunities, as well as deliver on those contracts for which they are selected. The workshop will highlight contracting resources available for small businesses and strategies for how to increase your likelihood of obtaining contracts from government agencies and prime contractors.


•Understand the systems involved in government contracting
•Learn about the contracting support for small businesses provided by the Small Business Administration
•Learn more about how to increase your likelihood of obtaining contracts from the federal government and prime contractors


Government procurement reps will be on hand at end of workshop to answer any questions you may have.

Business Entity Formation

Lucky for you, Pace Small Business Development Center has partnered up with City Bar Justice Center to explain the different forms of business structure to help you choose the right one for your business. The presenting attorney will describe the respective benefits and tax implications of each structure, as well as the steps and corresponding costs associated with each.

After the presentation, we will have a Q&A to address any questions or concerns you may have. Attendees will also learn about free and low-cost 1:1 legal assistance available through the City Bar Justice Center.

Marketing 101

Commercial Lease Negotiation

We’ve partnered with the City Bar Justice Center’s Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project (NELP) to bring you legal professionals who will present on the basics of commercial leasing. They will provide you with key point information on topics ranging from research you should do before deciding on a space, what you should look for in a written lease, selecting an appropriate lease term, to issues that may arise once you’ve signed the lease.

After the presentation, there will be time for Q&A to address any follow up questions or concerns you may have. Attendees will also learn about free and low-cost 1:1 legal assistance available through the City Bar Justice Center.

Forecasting Sales Growth: A Guide to Financial Projections

The Pace SBDC and Excelsior Growth Fund have partnered up to bring you a 2-part workshop series that will delve into the inner workings of financial projections.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Make financial projections to track the growth and profitability of your business

  • Estimate operating revenue and expenses

  • Read the financial statements needed to create your financial projection

  • Interpret your business's financial data

  • Make critical business decisions based on actual financial data and performance

Dates: May 30th & June 6th, 2018 from 5:00-8:00pm

*Please note that both dates are a part of this seminar. This is a two-part workshop commitment.

Small Business Accounting Basics

The Pace Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has brought on a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to teach you the fundamentals of accounting so that you are better equipped to handle your business's financials.

The workshop will discuss the following:

- Basic accounting terms and procedures 

- Tracking sales and expenses

- Simple and low-cost ways to set up a bookkeeping system

Franchising Fundamentals
