The Pace University Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) mission is to provide in-depth and confidential one-on-one business advisement, training and market research to help small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs launch or grow their business. Our center’s no-cost services include helping our clients to access financing; develop business plans and financial projections, identify procurement opportunities, and implement strategies for increasing sales. 

In addition to working with the team in the above areas, the Business Advisor may provide counseling on marketing issues to our small business clients. These areas of assistance include website development, search engine optimization, ecommerce, targeted social media, and email marketing strategies. Further, the Business Advisor will collaborate with the Pace SBDC Director and team to develop content and manage the center’s website and social media platforms, building awareness of the Pace SBDC and its services while aligning with the marketing efforts of the NY SBDC network.

Position Duties

  • Provide one-on-one counseling to help clients grow or launch their small business.  

  • Collaborate with Pace SBDC director to manage center’s marketing initiatives.  

  • Implement and/or participate in Pace SBDC-sponsored small business workshops.  

  • Under Pace SBDC Director supervision, expand collaborations with Pace University faculty, staff & students, as well as with Government agencies, financial institutions, business groups and community organizations.   

  • Help small business clients to access key demographic, economic and other key market research through the NYSBDC Network. 

  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.     

 

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management, Finance, Accounting, or other appropriate discipline.

  • Experience counseling small businesses, or owning/managing a small business.

  • Experience managing social media accounts, developing websites (eg. Wix, Squarespace, Shopify) and/or graphic design.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.    

  • Bilingual preferred.

  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.  

  • Must be able to handle confidential information in a discreet manner. 
     

Work Hours

Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with additional hours as needed.
